How to Enhance Your Driving Experience – Part 1
You’ve decided how you’re going to procure funding for you new or new-to-you purchase (need a refresher? finance, lease, or outside lending/cash), so what should you expect from the business side of this deal? There are a couple of myths surrounding the business department in most dealerships, ones that Reed Chrysler is happy to not take part of. The most common theme of these ideas is a general sense of unease or bullying in the business office, dragging down the entire exciting experience. Who wants that? No one; Reed Chrysler is all about treating your family like our family, in all aspects of a vehicle ownership experience.
What you can expect from the business office with us? Not anything too earth-shattering, honestly. Setting up a time to pick up your vehicle and do the paperwork, a quick survey, and confirming any questions or concerns would be the first step. Once back in the business office, there are some standard forms that need to be signed, including odometer disclosures if you have a trade, insurance forms if you have a lien, and most importantly, you will be given some options to enhance your driving experience. This segment will go over extended service contracts.
We understand how much of an investment you made in purchasing your vehicle with us. Sometimes the comprehensive manufacturer coverage just doesn’t quite fit with your driving habits, leaving you with costly repairs. For instance, Chrysler products come with a 3 year, 36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. An important distinction to make is that it is 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. If you drive 12,000 miles a year, it’s irrelevant. But what if you drive 15,000 miles a year? 18,000? 20,000? Your factory bumper-to-bumper coverage will expire in 2 years and 5 months, 2 years, and only 1 year and 10 months, respectively. Many people these days can’t afford to be making a monthly payment and cover costly repairs that may pop up after factory coverage expires. We offer a vehicle protection plan for this specific purpose, and with the different levels available, you can rest assured it will be budget-friendly and fit your driving habits.
What if you are one of the few who paid cash for your vehicle? Sure, you could most likely foot the average $800 repair, but why would you want to? Most who are in a position to be able to pay things off immediately have gotten in such a position because they have been very cautious with their money. Why should that stop just because you have successfully purchased a vehicle?
Let’s go over some of the benefits to having an extended service contract. Aside from the fact that they offer 24/7 roadside assistance, trip interruption, and rental car replacement, which factory warranty does not, most plans offer minimal or disappearing deductibles. Disappearing deductibles are very useful when you frequent the same dealership for service; if you purchase an extended warranty with a disappearing deductible from us, you may pay $100 to service your vehicle anywhere else, but you will pay nothing out of pocket if you service it here and it is covered by your warranty.
There are multiple levels of coverage that you can opt to have, ranging from powertrain only coverage to full factory-type coverage. We have detailed explanations of what is and is not covered under each plan. It is important to note that with most factory-type coverage plans, the only thing not covered is normal wear and tear items and anything that might be covered by regular insurance, such as oil changes and tires.
So how can this help you at the end of the day? You are able to account for the majority of your expenses when it comes to your vehicle – no surprise repair bills means no having to give up your nest egg or family vacations! You are also able to ensure that your vehicle will maintain it’s value. By removing the concern of having to choose to repair your vehicle or pay your rent, you will always ensure that your vehicle’s maintenance is up to date. And if you can ensure that for as little as $1 a day, why wouldn’t you? Throw in the fact that these are prorated in case you decide to trade your vehicle early, and this is a no-brainer.
